RE: Caster Wheels for low clearance

a customer of mine had a new 30ft TT, D___men and the frame visably sagged at front & back to the point where he was hitting at very gradual slopes SO he put a set on. pulled in for gas and they engaged the ground as designed and he thought all worked good. however when he next got in the trailer miles later realized the force they had applied pushing up on the rear of the frame had bowed the frame upward so much that most of the interior panels had buckled together at the top edge and damaged things as the top of the trailer got a few inches shorter temporarily.-- lots of damage

RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice

great post, great reading, great ending.
really is nice when the OP stays with the story and winds it up so completely.
I think even Nelsons will win in the end because to try and "buy " this much publicity would have used their advertising budget for many, many years. If they get a few sales from their name being out there that they normally would never have seen, they will make up this "loss" eventually and hopefully come out ahead.
If I were in the market and in their area would have no problem giving them a try for my business.

RE: No GM lease incentives in Canada-affect new tow veh. sales?

donn0128-- you do not understand leasing vs buying BUT if you read jsr21 very accurate example maybe will see it!
to answer lesmores original question, YES, as one in the business it will affect sales. just today have customers looking at 96 month loans on trucks in attempt to get payments down. its not good

RE: Went and weighed new RV--over weight?

if your fiver is still empty in these examples it could get worse OR better. if tanks, (water & propane) are rear of axles and you load more in rear than in front storage compartment, the pin weight may lighten a bit (OR could get worse!) if you are not exceding your tire weight capacity you are probably better off than many others with your specs.
good luck

RE: Can Eternabond Fix This?

SURVEYOR
you gotta watch the video "1" more time, he didn't use power, he used momentum/inertia/moving mass- you know that physics stuff. approached with a good head of steam and whacked it, didn't nudge up and just pull it over. :)
seriously tho- in the video it looked like the frame & cab crushed down to the ground, glad no one hurt bad

RE: Can Eternabond Fix This?

IMO the video made the situation look much worse, when I first saw video it appeared the truck was totally squashed!! (of course it was a Dodge)
o well, that guys story is preserved for infinity now-- his great grand kids will be able to look back to the days when we had RVs and have a laugh at how we wasted fuel!!!

It will NEVER end!!

people buying trailer too big for their truck that is. I just a couple months ago returned to work at the Ford dealer. Yesterday a salesman wants me to figure a way to get a guy out of his lease on a F150 cause it just won't tow his trailer properly, this GUY used to work here about 6 years ago, he is still a licensed mechanic, a quick check shows his truck is rated to tow 8700 lbs. the trailer salesman told him the "dry" trailer weight is 10000 lbs but his truck would tow it fine!! It won't, he can't aford to switch trucks, somehow I don't feel sorry for him- he of most people should know what his truck is capable of before buying and hooking up to that new trailer.
To make it worse, I had to point out to our salesman after the deal died that the F250 with a 5.4 gas is not rated to tow anymore, it would definitly handle better but still several thousand lbs to low rated.
It won't end but I guess it does help the economy when a new truck soon follows a new trailer purchase ( when affordable)

RE: weights and rv sales... maybe they try

those who answered the OP are all talking weight issues, I for one read his post as a comment that there are salespeople out there who do CARE if you are safe/legal/whatever!
However the OP said it was the more "inexperienced" salesperson, I sure hope as he gets more experience he does not change for the sake of a sale.
Having many years in sales I really believe there are lots of honest caring salespeople out there, we hear about the bad ones on here. Kind of like the old saying in sales " a happy customer will tell "1" person BUT an unhappy customer will tell at least "10"
Hope the OP goes back to this guy when he is ready to buy and mentions his PROPER actions as a reason for being back!!

RE: has anyone ever heard of this?

I don't think we have the full story here?
I realize we were ALL new RVrs at one point but I find it very scary that someone could be so "new" (read -uninformed?) to tow a 40 foot trailer 400 miles with NO BRAKES and not know it!
I find it amazing the trip was made without a crash.
good luck to the OP, you may need it as I think you have used most of yours up.

RE: Damaged aluminum rims on my Ford truck

Mr P---- I have been on the other side of this counter, there are also customers out there trying to get something for nothing, ----definitly no implication intended. Think of those who drop stuff in their food to get a settlement or a free meal!
As you consider this a major fiasco, you are obviously someone who takes extreme good care of your vehicle, would love to get your used truck.
I am wondering; as you had this exact same problem resulting in wheels being replaced at a prior service why you would not have at least checked before you left the lot, or better yet had the service writer walk out to truck with you and explain your concern before leaving it for service?
Would have been less stressfull for all involved.
Sorry for your problem but please don't let scratches on your wheels ruin your day or week. :)

RE: Not happy with purchase from dealer

"tallyo" -- based on the info the OP originally posted, I said he did not have the true story on this unit, i.e. is it really a used or what is it?
As it turns out he knew was used by an "executive" so was really a demo but probably had to be sold as used now. I have 30 years in the auto/rv sales business so the survey thing tipped me off. there are sections to rate the vehicle & sections to rate the dealer. have never heard of any manufacturer doing surveys on used units but could be a new idea, probably a good one!
with the current information my opinion is that he is dealing with a very unethical dealer( taking a deposit to secure deal then putting 3 others ahead of him on same unit would be legal grounds to get deposit back IMO )
however the original poster has never complained about the price he paid so if he can get his "dome" I would suggest he then advise Winnie about this dealers business practices, ask them to suggest an alternate dealer for service, inform the readers here who this is and "divorce" this dealer immediately and go and enjoy his new M/H.

RE: Not happy with purchase from dealer

something is a little fishy here, this is a "used" unit but they are having you send in the owner satisfaction report to manufacturer? This should have been done by the ORIGINAL purchaser when supposedly first sold! you don't have the true representation on this RV !!! was it a wreck? demo? repo? drowned? not trying to scare you but you have to research this and get the truth, you may wan't to legally undo this deal when you find all the facts.

RE: Thought I was having a great day!!!

been there, done that and wasn't even my own trailer, was moving one for someone else. NOW I ALWAYS leave the power cord attached to truck and manually apply full trailer brakes when unhooking or hooking up, can do it so smooth now the DW can be in fiver and not feel that I hooked or unhooked. I have sufficient cord to pull truck ahead enough when unhooking to comfortably access box BUT its not uncommon for someone watching to run over waving "Hey- u forgot to undo your cord!" I don't use blocks, only a Lynx levellor block, can only fall 1 inch if something goes wrong.
Sorry about your truck but time heals the pain ;)

RE: Locked out of computer~now what?

Hey " h2guy " I think your remark concerning wa8yxm was a little harsh. with the problems this system has had lately, - by the time he did his research, typed and mayby saved his message to post later, a few other posts were made. if he did not re-read and just posted it would look a little redundant but he tried to offer help...did you? and not even a smiley face to lighten it a bit. not very productive IMO

RE: WiFI

clifford
i would say first that you are on the right track by even looking into this, we (and many others I think) will not stay longterm somewhere unless internet is available.
we just got back from Florida and will try & explain what they had. was Clerbrook RV & golf resort in Clermont. huge park, 1200 sites arround a golf course. they had FREE wireless in and arround the building with library/postoffice, with tables inside and outside under covered pavillion to use.
there was also a pay system (Tengo Internet) throughout the park, supposedly worked everysite, probably about 7 antenna or whatever they are sites througout the resort. Buy by the day, week, month, or year- log on to thier page, takes your credit card and on to the net you go. I think the park had no ownership in this, seemed like the internet company must install and take in the revenue.
would be an inexpensive way to offer service to all your customers, they could pay if needed a lot OR go to a certain area in your park and use for free in only needed once in a while.
hope this gives you another option to look at
good luck

RE: 2008 F350

Hawkeye-08---re weight and mileage. I did not look up exact specs on current year but these numbers are close, a 250 is about 1000 lbs heavier than a 150, a 350 is about 10 lbs heavier than a 250. if both have the same tire size and gear ratio, fuel mileage should be identical. if they are both same model- i.e. crewcab, 4x4, single rear wheel, 8ft box the ride will be almost identical also.

RE: 2008 F350

do not even consider the 5.4, fuel mileage will be the same solo and probably better while towing with the V10. and when you get that bigger/heavier trailer you will be ready. mine has 3:73 gears and pulling around 11000 lbs usually run in direct, have found the sweet spot is about 3100 - 3300 rpm but is too much speed there, would go with the 4:10 which wasn't available in 2000 (only the 4:30 was which I now know I shud have got) you have enough wheelbase that the ride is decent on all but real rough stuff so definitly go F350. Mine just rolled over 200000 kilometers last monday on way home from Florida. Repairs to date- balljoints (warranty) right side headlite socket melted (might have beeen from the hioutput bulbs) rest is maintenance- brakes & tires, etc. Very happy with this truck!! good luck with whatever way u go.
